Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Daylane ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Daylane is a scheduling service that connects to your iCloud Calendar via CalDAV to help you share availability and accept bookings. The Service allows you to:
- Configure availability rules (days, times, buffers, slot durations)
- Share a personalized booking page where others can schedule time with you
- Automatically check your iCloud Calendar for conflicts
- Create calendar events in your connected iCloud Calendar when bookings are confirmed
- Send email confirmations and notifications to you and your invitees
3. User Accounts
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
- Create an account using Apple Sign-In or email magic link
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
4. iCloud Calendar Connection
To use the scheduling features, you must connect an iCloud Calendar. By doing so, you:
- Authorize Daylane to access your iCloud Calendar via CalDAV using an app-specific password you provide
- Acknowledge that your app-specific password is stored encrypted in Supabase Vault and used only to check availability and create calendar events
- Confirm you have the right to grant this access and that connecting does not violate any agreements with Apple or third parties
- Understand you may disconnect your iCloud Calendar at any time through your account settings, which will delete the stored credentials from our systems
We do not store your existing iCloud Calendar events in our database. We fetch busy times in real-time to determine availability.
5. Bookings & Invitees
When someone books time through your Daylane page:
- They provide their name, email, and optional notes
- We store this booking data in our database and create an event in your iCloud Calendar (if connected)
- Email confirmations with ICS calendar attachments are sent to both you (the host) and the invitee via our email provider (Resend)
- You are responsible for honoring confirmed bookings or communicating changes to invitees
- Booking records (including invitee name, email, and notes) are retained until you request deletion by contacting us
Daylane is not a party to meetings booked through the Service. We facilitate scheduling but are not responsible for the conduct of hosts or invitees.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure
- Circumvent rate limits or security measures
- Share your account credentials with others or allow others to access your account
- Use the Service to send spam, phishing, or unsolicited messages
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
- Use the Service in a way that could harm minors
7. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers including:
- Apple: For Apple Sign-In authentication and iCloud Calendar access (CalDAV)
- Supabase: For authentication, database, and secure credential storage (Vault)
- Resend: For sending email notifications and calendar invites
- Upstash: For rate limiting to protect the Service
Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and policies of these providers. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
8. Service Availability
We strive to keep Daylane available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control, including outages from third-party providers we depend on (Apple/iCloud, Supabase, Resend, Upstash, Vercel).
We are not liable for missed bookings, scheduling conflicts, failed email delivery, or other issues arising from Service downtime, third-party outages, or errors.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by Daylane and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
You retain ownership of your data (availability settings, booking information, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use this data solely to provide and improve the Service.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be accurate, reliable, or available at any particular time, or that defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DAYLANE AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Daylane and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. To delete your account, please contact us at support@daylane.app.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your iCloud credentials are deleted when you disconnect your iCloud Calendar through settings or upon account termination request. Booking data may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy unless you specifically request its deletion.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
